Saturday afternoon, out of nowhere, someone dear I haven't seen in years; my very first.
She invites me to Saturday night:
A ten course meal -
A traditional Chinese feast.
Soup.
Jellyfish.
Chicken.
Vegetables.
Salt and pepper squid.
Rice.
More rice.
Lobster.
Pork.
Tea.
Tea.
Tea.
Tea.
Tea.
More tea.
Rock sugar.
More rice.
Duck's feet.
Fish.

I love those. The jellyfish is the best.
How'd you do w/ the lobster?
What does jellyfish taste like?
luv julia
pass me one of everything bay the ducks feet... hmmmm and 2nds of the squid and lobster -- my favourites...
Infact I brought squid tubes a couple of weekends back and made my own salt and pepper squid... *drool*
Oooh, I had a roast duck and shredded jellyfish salad the other day. Delicious.
i'm a little iffy on the duck's feet, but i'm open to anything once - even duck's feet i suppose. and i'm not so clear on the rock sugar . . . is that the equivalent of rock candy or am i on totally the wrong lines here? anyway, sounds like a great nite at any rate.
MMMMMmmmm!
My father in law, constantly teases me about going out to get chicken's feet. I always shoot him a dirty look...duck's feet though, that's new. Everything else sounds wonderful!
So, how were the memories served on the side?
Hmmmm ... the duck etc. doesn't appeal ... but give me lots of rice and veg
NOw i am craving chinese food. And a lot of it.
Sigh
Hi, I have emptied the Recycle Bin ... I don't know what's going on with the stupid thing
mmm. sounds great. what was dessert?
Duuuuuude.......that's wicked. Ten courses? That's good karma from something, man. Gotta be.
Sweet deal. Nothing better than a good long meal with an old friend.
hope you like tea...
Ah, yes. So many interesting foods. I had jellyfish in China...that, and lotus root. Awful texture but surprisingly good.
chicken feet? i dont think i have ever had those
...and THEN what happened!
i agree with jo....nothing better than a long meal with an old friend. Time passes so quickly then, it's like you just sat down, but have already caught up.
though, being a veggie-head...i'm not so sure about jellyfish.
That sounds incredibley disgusting...haha, but you know how picky I am.
Sounds good. I could do without the jellyfish though.
I feel full.
Those firsts. They never go away, do they.
My very first named his first born after me. Want to trade ?
Wind chimes! If only I had them. Someone else said it looked like a landscape with weird lights in the sky. I'm not sure what it came from, just that it faded when clouds passed over the sun.
Sounds delicious - both the meal and the unexpected invitation.
Pass me some rice...
Did you have those rice balls with sesame paste for dessert? Sounds like you were celebrating the New Year--me, too : )
That is so lucky.
To be on wonderful terms.
That she thought enough of you.
To treat you once again. With respect
And smiles I suppose
and a lot of food that would require an extended duration of your time and company...
Lucky you.
You went out with a girl for a ten course meal...
and then nothing happened?
that sounds delicious.
i must say i am jealous.
lately, i have only had casseroles (sp?) because my mother is too ill to cook.
and my father is quite lazy.
think of me the next time you eat something tasty.
Tea makes you pee.
yum...
Yes, but what I want to know is: did you have seconds of your first?
Food is, after all, the way to a mans heart, yes?
and i wasn't invited!! BAH!
the menu definately doesn't appeal to me, but i do agree, spending an evening like that with an old flame sounds wonderful, curious, may be a bit (sexually) tense though..but that adds to the fun!
how come you had rock sugar on it's own? that's really strange.
duck's feet are a little strange. don't worry. those are the only things I find strange.
the dinner must've cost. those 10 course things don't come cheap. especially with lobster and squid thrown in. No shark's fin? I'm surprised.
