  • WHEN U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia (above) spoke Tuesday night at NYU's Vanderbilt Hall, "The room was packed with some 300 students and there were many protesters outside because of Scalia's vitriolic dissent last year in the case that overturned the Texas law against gay sex," our source reports. "One gay student asked whether government had any business enacting and enforcing laws against consensual sodomy. Following Scalia's answer, the student asked a follow-up: 'Do you sodomize your wife?' The audience was shocked, especially since Mrs. Scalia was in attendance. The justice replied that the question was unworthy of an answer."

of course it was unworthy of an answer. the only answer in such a public forum would have been to state that it was none of the student's concern. the natural rebuttal to that would be stating that if that were the case, then it was no business of the government's what goes on in someone's bedroom.
i wish politicians had some fucking common sense and some decency.

I tried to go clean from protesting but I'm a recidivist
my government behaving with unlimited wickedness
in the interest of peace is how a liar wages war
    then clamors for more.
I wish we had elections every day
wave the ballot in the air like a sign when I say
that democracy delivered by the bomb and the gun
is terror elsewhere on the world I'm from

do you cheer for the once-and-for-all of an enemy
whose hand our man don was on in '83 [click]
but who now exemplifies all evil
that's what you get for shaking hands with people
who represent the vast and sinister interests of industry
we protect the free trade world, so don't dare try to stop us
we deliver them bullets and sell them their coffins

and I wish that I could afford the ear of Bush the second
I'd ask is it your favorite philosopher who recommended
invading and exterminating all who defy us,
crying out justice but seeking out triumphs?
wasn't your christ unbeloved of empires?
one nailed his ass to a post; he expired!
a terrorist, as roman evidence showed
put down like a retard on the death row
in texas, I guess "tough luck," right George?
ain't that how every war gets scored?
big gun wins, winner gets a free turn
    enemy after enemy burns
are you listening sir? or did your mind drift
to the next country in your axis
to all the cool bombs drops you get to call
delivery fresh from the 4th reich to y'all

  • HAPPY EASTER. VRAAAAAAAGH!

  • what i've been up to recently:

    • reading The Battle for God: A History of Fundamentalism by Karen Armstrong.
i've only finished the first chapter, which is on Judaism. So far, it's a damn interesting book. it's a chronicle of the socio-political turning points of the major world religions (Judaism, Muslim, and Christianity), and some history as to why fundamental zealotry came about. Some interesting little tidbits about history that aren't really discussed much also. Like how the Spanish Inquisition came about from Ferdinand and Isabella's desire for a unified Spain (basically they said, convert to Christianity or leave, it's your choice). Torquemada (a descendant of converted Jews himself) then bastardized it into hatred, torture and murder.

    • yet another sinus infection.
nasty stuff going on in the hidden caverns of my sinuses. i've been doing lavage (taking a mild saline solution and shooting up your nose until it comes out the other nostril) on those bastards trying to get them cleared out. it's helping, but damn it's unpleasant.

    • erin's first night back at work since her heart episode is tonight. here's to hoping she has a good night.

  • EDIT: i'd really like to know what the hell is supposed to be going on in that pictogram.

  • it's official: i've moved in with erin. it's great. it's better than great.
i have to admit, i was hesitant to move in, afraid i wouldn't have my space and i would freak out or something from being surrounded all the time ( i am by nature pretty solitary). i realize now that i chose to be solitary not because i am solitary by nature, but because it was my comfort zone - keeping everyone and everything at arms' length. now i know that i'd much rather be surrounded by those i love and those who love me in return.
my cat is having a harder time adjusting than i am.
    this is bliss.

on the work front, i've been busy designing and getting my stuff together to get this web design business off to a start. the biggest hurdle is, of course, clients. i have a few prospectives, but nothing concrete yet.

3 days ago, i woke up unable to tilt my head to the left, excruciating pain included. turns out i had an acute torticollis. basically, a muscle spasm. the chiropractor broke my neck a few times and it seems to be on the mend pretty well. i can almost touch the side of my head to my shoulder again. i've been taking advil on a pretty steady 6 hour basis though. hopefully it'll be better this week.

  • I never thought too hard on dying before
I never sucked on the dying
I never licked the side of dying before
And now I'm feeling the dying
You've got your hands over your ears
You've got your mouth running on
You've got your eyes looking for something
That will never be found - like a reason
    Good god I don't need a reason
I never thought too hard on dying before
I never sucked on the dying
I never licked the side of dying before
And now I'm feeling the dying
    But you've got to....
    Give me the shot
    Give me the pill
    Give me the cure
Now what you've done to my world

    - give me the cure, by fugazi

i've had headaches almost every day for what, the past week? maybe longer. stress, i think. so much work to do, so many obstacles, hurdles. i've been having trouble sleeping as well. 4 or 5 hours a night unless i'm with erin. even then, i've been tossing and turning, waking up for no reason. anxiety.
i can't wait to get this thing off the ground, crawling and finally walking.
my skull is in a vise and my muscles are creating a death-grip on my spine.
my jaw is sore from clenching.
waiting for the tylenol pm to kick in.
erin said i was cranky all day - i didn't even notice.
    i need to get high.
    i need a massage.
    i need to fuck.
    i need a blow job.
i need this stress to break like a fever.

what got you interested in photography?  what do you think your greatest strengths and your greatest weaknesses are?  are you a morning person or a night person?  what kind of driver do you classify yourself as?  what is your one biggest pet peave?  oh, and what's your favourite colour?
(not asking too much of you, am i? ;)
    Posted 3/1/2005 at 11:13 PM by charm_me_asleep

i can't really say it was one instance that got me hooked on photography. it was an evolution of interest that sort of meandered from point a to point c, back to b then onto d.
my greatest strengths are creativity, problem solving and learning. my greatest weakness would be laziness and a slightly addiction prone personality.
i'm definitely a night person. i like the quiet and solitude.
i'm the kind of driver that has to watch out for all the assholes on the road. very defensive. i've seen first hand what kind of damage being stupid in a 60 mph 2 ton vehicle can do.
my biggest pet peeve, absolutely, is when people say things like 'on the same page', 'get with you', 'touch base', etc. outside of work context. drives me up a friggin' wall.
my favorite colors tend to be muted blues and earth tones.

what is your favorite Ren and Stimpy episode?
Do you know all the words to the Log song?
Which homestarrunner character are you? I'm Marzipan, my boyfriend is Stinkoman, his roommate is Homestar, and my buddy Jo is definitely Coach Z. We're pretty sure Sean is coach Z, but we need to build up our troops so you're it.
Posted 3/1/2005 at 11:19 PM by RaVnR

i haven't seen ren and stimpy in so long, i really can't say. the only episode i can recall is the one with history eraser button or whatever it was.
no, but if you hum a few bars...
i'm pretty sure i'd be strong bad. i'm sort of an instigator like that.

    1. What picture that you have taken do you love the most? Why? Can you post it for me???? Pulllease?
    2. First thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?
    3. Song that you can play over and over but never get sick of.
    4. Biggest pet peeve.
Okay, I am done, I promise:)
Posted 3/1/2005 at 11:20 PM by nightblindness

    1. hard question. it's definitely a toss up between this one(NOT SAFE FOR WORK) and this one.
    2. "where coffee?"
    3. more than a few (in no particular order):
    i. can't get enough of your love, babe covered by the afghan whigs
ii. almost anything by minus the bear, most notably 'dog park', 'let's play clowns', 'thanks for the killer game of crisco twister', 'women we haven't met yet'
iii. a large portion of anything by hum, most notably, 'apollo', 'if you are to bloom', 'the scientists', 'the pod', 'suicide machine'.
    4. already answered this one!

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Do you ever see weird shit out of the corner of your eye, but when you turn to investigate there is nothing there?

Posted 3/2/2005 at 1:04 PM by kissthewitch

i really don't have one. movies aren't really my thing. i watch them mostly for entertainment. most of them don't leave a lasting impression, though i really like bubba ho-tep.

3 questions, if you don't mind:
    what camera do you use?
whats the strangest thing that has ever happened to you?
how about the strangest dream you've had?
    Posted 3/4/2005 at 3:48 AM by lazy_housewife

it's more like 'which camera do you use most'? i mostly use my minolta x370 and my polaroid 420 land camera. the second most used are the holga f120 and the diana.
the strangest (and best) thing that's ever happened to me was erin showing up at my door 15 years later.
i don't remember my dreams that often to really answer this one.
