Just some quick thoughts. After going through almost all of the links on the Photo Friday challenge, I'm thinking to myself.. "How can so many people take pictures of the same thing?" Flaking, peeling paint. Beat up old cars. Condemned buildings. I'd say that's about 90% of the subjects, out of 300+ sites. COME ON PEOPLE. Sheesh. I'd say about 5-10 photos contained people as subject (including mine), and 2 photos were of something entirely different (like this one, which i thought was pretty spiffy). Grrr.
On the work front, I applied for, and got, a new job position. Bonuses include: a nice pay increase and working from home. Stoked. So supremely stoked.
And to top off a great day, I received a postcard from Vegas. Also, I've decided that the "about" on my site page is sucky. I'd like for anyone commenting to leave a question, about anything, and I'll choose the best ones to use on the page.
Don't forget to check my Photo of The Day.

yeah, I was thinking the same thing, after you directed us over there. in fact I got pretty lazy after 30, and stopped marking them because there really wasn't anything too special.
and awesome on the job!
we were talking about that in photo class last week -- how one picture happens, and then 90% of the photos that year are of the same thing. you'd think creatures as complex as humans would be able to come up with at least a couple different perspectives on things, huh?
First of all, huge congratulations on the job. That's terrific.
As for a question, this are the things I wonder about when I look at your photos. How do you know when you want to take a picture of something? Is it a zen feeling in your gut that says "Take a picture of this" or is it more clinical? Do you frame the shot in your head before you put the camera to your eye or do you take lots of pictures of the same thing and choose the one that happens to come out the best?

I forgot to say, even if you don't use my question(s) on your "about" page, would you mind answering them anyway? I'd really like to know.
Thanks.
spiffin pictures...i'm inspired :O) peace...
Work from home? FABULOUSLY COOL!!! Congrats!!!
Hmmm...a question?
What is your prime directive?
top 3 goals for the next five years
and
what songs would be on the soundtrack to your life
watcha working as now rich??
you could put that down as well.
Why should that bug you? Frankly, it should make you feel like you have an edge over OTHER not-so-creative photographers.
My photography is all across the board. I occasionally photograph urban decay but not regularly. However, I did a Belgian graffiti series that got published a couple of months ago. I'm more into THAT than decay, but I do LIKE decay, if it's photographed well. However, like you said, it's what EVERYBODY is doing. So, you should prolly feel proud, hon!

WAY cool on the telecommuting business. I would KILL BILL for a position like that...
(And no, I have not read Microserfs, but I will. It's just that I'm not a true Microsoftie; I only do contract work here.)
what kind of camera do you use, and where do you develop the film, and what color are your shoes, what was your first word, who do you hate the most?
Congratulations! Sounds awesome. What I would do for a pay increase and be able to work from home. BTW, I'm really enjoying your photos. Nice composition.
Rich, my lovely, that Friday Photo is overwhelmingly beautiful. I was glued to it for a long time. Made me think of 'Hideous Kinky," the movie. [Which is one of my absolute favorites, by the way.]
And oh, I'll be sure to deliver your thoughts and wishes to M's sperm, when they return. I'm sure he'd be very pleased to know. ;-
Hey - congrats on the job!!
I don't have any questions for you now...if any come up I'll let you know.
Awesome on the job thing...
ok questions...
1) Your desert island 5 people (living...dead people don't count, they'd still be dead on the island)
2) You've built a time machine, but the shitty part is that you can only go forward OR backward, not both. Which way do you go, and whom do you go to see?
3) Your absolute favourite word in the entire English language and why?
