  • hehe YAY Im first!! :Seal claps:

I say try Alice in chains - Dirt. Its quite possibly the most profound CD Ive ever heard, though kinna morbid too, which is appealing to me, but prolly not you :gigglesnort:. The whole CD just kicks ass.... and U should buy it coz I said so LOL

  • i haven't taken out the Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots out of rotation since i received it as a gift three months ago. does that classify as a favorite? i like it because: it's different, it tackles sad topics in an upbeat wacky sort of way (well, that's a Flaming Lips trademark anyway), it's different, and it has so many sonic layers.

  • Man, you're up too freaking early *wink*

My recommendation is definitely something Heather Nova.  Either Oyster or Siren, I can't get enough of her.  Unf.

  • Joydrop Joydrop Joydrop! PICK JOYDROP!! They totally kick ass! Viberate! That's the name of one of the CDs....or Metasexual! DOOO IT!!!

  • Super Furry Animals/"Rings Around the World." It's like '70s rock/early Beatles/touch of electronic, and GOOD ... I can hook you up with a few tunes, if you're interested! Let me know.

  • If you're feeling a little pissed off, I would recommend PJ Harvey's "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea."  Her music is not to everyone's taste, but I love it.  If you're a little sad, the Magnolia soundtrack, which is mainly Aimee Mann.  The best of that is "Deathly", "You Do", "Wise Up", and especially "Save Me".  "Save Me" could make you cry!

  • Well, I missed the train to Mars ;o) but....I recommend anything by "Staind"....particularly "Break the cycle".

Umm....does there really have to be a reason?  Cuz' I like it, think it's good?  hehe  particularly the songs "Fade", "Epiphany", and "For you"....great tunes, great guitar....I like Aaron Lewis' voice.  :o

  • hootie and the blow fish because they suck

  • i agree with yoshimi battles the pink robots, but i think i will have to give sigur ros a mention, their album aegitis byrjun really has an effect on me.  it's so different from anything else that i have heard.  nevermind that i don't know a word that are singing.  it's not about that.  it speaks to you in a different way.  and leaves it up to you to translate.

  • Ben Folds, Rockin' the Suburbs. For the songwriting...

Myself, I download all the music before I buy it. That way I'm not disappointed. :)

  • oh here's a link for some good sigur ros to dl.  i recommend hafssol, track four from ( ) the nothing song, and most off of the aegtis byrjun album.

  • Wow, your layout is very nice... guess I should visit more often eh. ^_^;;

Hmm, I have such a huge diverse collecting that it's hard to pick just one. It would all depend one your taste. I'm really in to classical type music right now so I'd suggest Bond - "Shine". It contains fast paced songs with a twist of modern day. And it's four hot girls so that would motivate any guy.

  • well my suggestion would be quite plain and boring at this point, wouldn't it? "gentlemen" by the afghan whigs, but you already have what? half of it downloaded? "black love" is a really good one too.... there's always medicine "her highness", as that's about the only one you may be able to find easily and honestly, couldn't you use some girls in your record collection? ::shrug::: oh, by the way... that is an *adorable* photograph. xox

  • my vote would be for radiohead's OK Computer, but i'm sure you already have it.

soo...the re-release of the velvet underground and nico: deluxe edition.  i guess the velvet underground is a little bit of an acquired taste, but seriously, it rocks.  the flaming lips CD is good.  i have no qualms about that either.  but just...two or three of the songs seriously bug me.  and the hives disc REALLY ROCKS.  but it's short, only 28 minutes.  so i dunno if it's worth the $18.

  • Journey's Greatest Hits. Steve Perry has an incredible voice that spans all of his songs.  I can listen to it over and over again without tiring of it.  His voice could melt butter.

  • hm.. this is my first time leaving a comment for you. i'm usually the quiet observer type. but when it comes to music... i have to highly recommend Yo La Tengo- I can hear the heart beating as one. it's an awesome cd- i can't say anymore. Also, basically any Belle and Sebastian cd is awesome, and the new Beck cd isn't too bad either. it's more depressing than his usual work, but it's still quite good.

  • Gah. Well. Two people(maybe three?) already mentioned it but... The Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots....but then someone else mentioned Sigur-Ros. GAH. I really can't choose. Which is why I barely have any CD's...but dude, The Flaming Lips...really the only word for it is...*Homer's trademark droool...*

  • OK GO (a British band)

mixes different genres... interesting lyrics, recently has single from CD, "Get Get Over It" getting lots of airplay!

    (thank me later)

  • Heh, OK GO is pretty good... I love the sarcastic lyrics...but I have no idea what type of sound you're into, so I'm not even going to suggest anything...

  • Wow....hmmm...of course the first thing that came to my mind was Hanson.  Then, Natalie Merchant.   Then The Suicide Machines.  Then Cake.  But, my opinion is sort of null and void.  Buy Yoshi's Story for Ninetendo 64, instead.

  • So many different faves... what type do you want to hear?  I love Dar Williams Mortal City.  There's something so wonderfully honest about that one.  But I think I'd have to say that the score from Last of the Mohicans is one of my faves.  It's great listening when you're reading a book or when you need to just zone and maybe nap on a bus.  And it can be exciting, too.  I like scores because they don't distract you when you're reading and they can be great backgrounds for cleaning the house or stuff like that.

I don't know.  I have very strange musical taste.  If you ever want to know what Broadway show to buy, ask me.  Oh, yeah- I love to listen to Aida, by Elton John, too (Bway cast) and Moulin Rouge CD1.  They really rock, but there's a lot going on, acting-wise, and artistically.  Again, not a priority for most folks.  But there it is, as long as you asked me....

  • uh,

    Hanson?

    [shakes head]

the flaming lips. the sigur ros, i had to touch the fwd button a couple times. it's not bad, though. ha.

  • Hmmmmm.. depends on your tastes.. I don't really have a FAVORITE CD.. I love my Aerosmith.. ANYTHING by them just gets me bouncin in my chair..  I also have a HUGE thing for Sublime.. fav CD by them.. sheesh hard call.. "40 Oz. to Freedom" or their self-titled.  But then I have my classical... Gustav Holst's "The Planets Suite".. why? A friend sent me a piece from it called Venus: The Bringer of Peace.. and it sweeps me away every time.

  • *Takes her # and gets in line waiting to post* .. so anyways. Burn your own cd.

  • 1,138....1,139.....1,140.....1,141.....1,142

hehe looks better then seven 9's and 10's...how would that look properly anyway?

So, tell us all what you decided on!

  • hmmm my favourite CD is KENT!!! They rock! And why you should buy it .... cos they rock! hehe...!

Thanks for the huggy !!!!!! *HUGS BACK*

  • Cave-In.  "Jupiter".  'nuff fuckin said.  dont pick it.  you miss out.

  • the ones to get are the ones you don't have to skip through any songs...

weezer-pinkerton, saves the day-stay what you are, and radiohead- pablo honey are 3 that come to the top of my mind of that nature...

    happy shopping

  • portishead live in NYC.....because that chic can sing!!!!!

i never tire of that cd......

  • Bonnie Raitt road tested ... I don't have to list the reasons ...

  • can't beat the Platinum collection of Queen's greatest hits.  If anything, this CD will have you running around the room doing your best air guitar.  It rocks.  Queen rocks.  Doh!

  • Jill Scott, Who Is Jill Scott? Words & Sounds, Vol. I.  Her lyrics are truthful and poetic, her voice is amazing, and her music is beautiful!!  So you may not be into R&B, but you gotta give Jill Scott a chance!  I listen to the album at least once a day, and I haven't gotten sick of it yet!

  • Leonard Cohen - Ten New Songs-  Because it moves into your soul and changes the way you see things.

    Happy Wednesday -

  • Giant Sand. because they're really really cool.

  • Hey! Look ova here ...

I say, any American Steel album. They are punk I suppose but not the horrible crashy kind (and not poppy either). Good luck and hope I'm not too late.

  • Music is pretty personal.  I don't know, that seems like buying someone a pair of underwear, you know?  What kind of music are you into?

  • Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here. Classic sounds, al little mellow, but yet has awsome guitar rips.
